An intense day of fieldwork in Mejillones was carried out by the H2Antofagasta team, with the presence of Johan Dreyer, President, Pedro Garcia Ossandon, Director, Matias Lagos Plaza, Project Leader, and Katherine Burgos, Executive Secretary.

First, we visited AES Andes, where we had the opportunity to tour their main facilities and learn about their plans to use solar salts to convert one of their coal plants in that location, which will be a pioneering project worldwide. Continuing the tour, we headed to Enaex, who welcomed us and showed us part of their key processes, and we discussed the HyEx project, which aims to replace their current imports of gray ammonia with green ammonia. Finally, we arrived at Puerto Mejillones, a port company with the largest sulfuric acid terminal in the region, where we talked about the main challenges and opportunities for the green hydrogen ecosystem and its value chain.
